At the GPO community plots. Production is one of the great rewards – and it’s not the only one!
We enjoy fresh organic produce, home food, laughter, time outdoors in a beautiful conservation area, the magic of encouraging tiny specks of seeds to mature into delicious nutritious vegetables, and a respite from the political and economic demands of modern urban life.
Our large plots (about 1000 sq.ft.) can grow most of the produce for a small family. We have a wonderful variety of ages, experience, languages, goals, crops, and skills, and a cheerful, supportive community centred on well-being. Some grow for their family, others for their faith community; some because it’s a multi-generation family tradition, others because they’ve never grown food before. Co-location with eight small farms on Toronto and Region Conservation’s Claireville Conservation Area in Brampton encourages our ambitions and develops our growing techniques.
